David met Rafik about 7 years ago. They would see and talk to each other occasionally and over time the relationship grew. When they could, they would meet for tea to discuss life issues and global news. David would do his best to include God in the conversations and give Biblical advice, while Rafik would help David navigate through the challenges of living cross-culturally. However, Rafik never seemed to be interested in spiritual conversations.
Over time, by God’s grace, Rafik’s heart began to soften to the things of God. As he shared about his greater interest to know Jesus, he told David, “When I came to this city, I was alone. I am a foreigner here, and so are you. You have cared for me like family. I’ve seen how you left your family in your nice country and endured many difficulties to live here and love our people. Without you, I would be in a much worse place.”
God simply used David’s presence to draw Rafik to himself and Rafik is now on a journey to faith in Jesus. Praise God, Rafik is not alone, one of the main factors sighted for Rohingya people coming to faith is friendship with a Believer. A living witness to a different way.
Pray:
– Pray that God would raise up Christians around the world to befriend Rohingya living near them.
-Ask God to raise up Believers to travel cross culturally to live among and love the Rohingya in the name of Jesus.
– Ask God if you could be the answer to the first two prayers. What would God have you do to love your neighbor (the Rohingya) as yourself?
“In the same way, let your light shine before others, so that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father who is in heaven.” – Matthew 5:16
