One evening, I felt like I needed to visit one of my good Rohingya friends. As I left my apartment, I took a small packet of English stories with me. This English story packet contained several short parables of Jesus. For a long time, I had been wanting to share this packet with my friend to see if she would be interested in reading stories together. Before knocking on my friend’s door, I told God, “I’m not sure what’s going to happen on this visit, but please help me to be ready for whatever You want to happen.”
When I got inside my friend’s home, she asked me what was in my hand, and I told her it was a packet of stories. My friend quickly sat down and we started reading the story of the Lost Coin together (Luke 15:8-10). My friend read through the story twice, and during her second time reading the story, she was really comprehending it. She asked good questions like, “What is joy?” and, “What does ‘sinner’ mean?” We talked about these words, and I was really encouraged by how much my friend interacted with the story. I hope for more opportunities to talk about stories of truth with her.
- Please pray for more interactions like this to happen with my friend and that we can continue reading stories together.
- Pray for Rohingya around the world to have open hearts to hear and receive stories of Jesus.
