“If you could meet anyone in the world, who would you want to meet?” I sat there across from my friend Faisal, who was recently asked this question. What would you say for yourself? A famous movie star of yours? Maybe a famous teacher or preacher? But to my surprise, that is not how my friend answered. Instead he told me, “If I could meet anyone in the world I would want to meet my mother. I haven’t seen her in over 20 years. I miss her.”
Can you imagine if this was your family situation? Sadly, this is reality for him and many other Rohingya. Most of them cannot move freely. Those who chose to do so face attacks, imprisonment and the dangers of travel. Every year many Rohingya die trying to travel through the ocean in small boats, are put in prison in a foreign land, shot at, and sold as slaves. Others are separated while fleeing from violence. Many of them have families separated across the country or across countries without their choosing. Remember, the largest refugee camp in the world is comprised of Rohingya.
Would you pray for them?
- Pray for my friend to have an opportunity to be reunited with his mother.
- Pray for Rohingya families separated across the country or across countries; pray for opportunities to reunite and communicate.
- Pray for travel mercies or protection for those who do decide to travel.
- Pray that Rohingya would turn to Jesus who cares about the pain they are experiencing and wants to heal their broken hearts.
